This policy explains how Stay Riga uses cookies and similar technologies, in line with the EU GDPR, UK GDPR, and the ePrivacy Directive / UK PECR. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies (like localStorage) work in the same way. They can be "first-party" (set by us) or "third-party" (set by another company, such as an affiliate partner).
Our Consent Approach
We use a consent-first model. When you first visit, only strictly necessary cookies are active. We do not load analytics or marketing cookies unless you opt in via our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the footer (or the floating cookie button), as easily as you gave it.
Categories of Cookies
1. Strictly necessary. Required for the Site to load and stay secure (e.g. our CDN/hosting and your saved consent choice). These do not track you across sites and are always on.
2. Analytics (off by default). If you opt in, we load Plausible (privacy-respecting, aggregated and non-identifying) and the GetYourGuide Integration Analyzer, which measures how their booking widgets perform. Neither is loaded without your consent.
3. Marketing (off by default). If you opt in, we load two affiliate-attribution scripts so that a booking you make can be credited to this site: Travelpayouts Drive and Stay22 LetMeAllez, which rewrites outbound accommodation links into tracked links at the moment you click one. Neither builds an advertising profile of you, and neither is loaded without your consent.
These two run on this page once you opt in, which is different from the click-through partner cookies described below. Both are listed in the table for completeness.
Third-Party / Affiliate Cookies
When you click an affiliate link, you leave Stay Riga and the partner may set their own cookies on their website to attribute the referral. These are governed by each partner's own cookie and privacy policies, not ours. Typical durations:
